WILLIAMSTOWN – Airport officials congratulated the outgoing manager at the Wood County Airport Authority on Monday as his retirement is scheduled for next month.
Jackie Hall, who has worked at the airport for 25 years, said outgoing manager Glen Kelly has been able to meet the challenges he has faced during his four years in the role.
Hall has worked with four different managers during her career at the airport, some of whom were present at Monday’s meeting and she said âThey were all a pleasure. But this guy here has received (a lot) more than anyone in this room can imagine. “
Despite several changes in rules and regulations, Hall said Kelly was able to adapt to the changes and continue to improve the airport.
âThis guy here has been extremely helpful at this airport. It has been four difficult years dealing with rules and regulations. I saw it all (and) we had very good managers â, she said.
Authority President Bill Richarson wished Kelly good luck during the meeting and thanked him for his dedication.
“We cannot thank you enough, words are not enough” he said.
Kelly thanked the group for their comments and said he was grateful for the completed projects and hopes to see more, including renovated bathrooms and a new overhead counter.
During the meeting, Richardson also requested a minute of silence to pay tribute to a former airport manager and Contour manager who recently died from COVID-19.
In other airport activities, Kelly reported 624 boardings for the month of September, up from 262 in September 2021. For the month of October, 33,042 gallons of fuel were sold, which also represents an increase of 2,940 since October latest.
