Williamsport Regional Airport receives $700,000 for tower | News, Sports, Jobs
Williamsport Regional Airport will receive $700,000 in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Competitive Contract Tower Grant Program, established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
“Our Commonwealth’s airports provide essential public transportation and economic connections to communities in small towns and rural Pennsylvania,” said U.S. Senator Robert Casey, D-Scranton. “This Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funding will upgrade the air traffic control tower at Williamsport Regional Airport and ensure these connections to central Pennsylvania remain strong.”
The FAA Contract Tower Competitive Grant Program provides grants to improve air traffic control tower infrastructure at small towns and municipal airports.
The funding will help renovate the 60-year-old tower, including replacing existing wall panels, windows and doors.
In December 2021, Williamsport Regional Airport received over $1 million in airport infrastructure grant funding as a result of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
