Will football lights be a problem for the airport? | News, Sports, Jobs
With all the news regarding the transfer of the new football field from Elkins High School to High School. I wondered if everyone had forgotten about the controversy when they had to install the lights on the current football field.
Does anyone remember there was a big talk about the height of the lights and the Federal Aviation Administration because of the airport. HUM, well, that just makes me wonder.
Now I played football for Elkins and I know there are a lot of other guys who have played but I haven’t seen any talk about the height of the lights yet. Anyone who has played soccer knows, compared to soccer, that when the bettor hits the ball, it usually goes up quite high, so what will happen on the new pitch when the bettor hits the ball higher than the lights? current?
Well, the punt turner will most likely lose the ball when he’s over the lights and then get it back once he gets back under the lights. Hell, it won’t make other teams happy if they continually miss punters.
Or has there been a change in Federal Aviation Administration regulations around an airport for lights and Elkins High School intends to raise them? I do not think so. I am working with the FAA and know this has not been resolved at this time.
Will that be a problem in a few weeks when Elkins plays his first home game in over a year? I think they should have left him alone and made improvements to the stands at Wimer Field. The lights at Wimer Field were ready to go, as far back as I can remember. Just my humble opinion.
