Sylvie “Prosecute” A. Asan, 88, of Hollidaysburg, died on Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Homewood in Martinsburg. Born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Earl and Cornelia (Appleman) Hartman.
She married Robert P. Asan on May 19, 1956 in Pittsburgh. He predeceased her in 2017, after 61 years of marriage.
Three cousins survive: Clyde Black of Hollidaysburg, Ted Appleman of Martinsburg and Dick Appleman of Woodbury; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Reiser of Rochester, NY, and Karen Zylman of Richland, Washington; and their extended families.
Sue graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1950, then trained as an airline ticket reservation agent and worked in Chicago and Detroit. Sue and Bob made numerous moves to Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia before moving to Pennsylvania in 1981. She worked at Kaufman’s Wedding World and Brande-Saad Optometrists until his retirement in 1995.
His volunteer activities over the years have included the UPMC Altoona Campus, Make-A-Wish, Reading for the Blind, and Altoona Food Bank. She was an active member of the church, participating in Bell and senior choirs, church council, and band ministry to lock herself in home fellowship. Sue loved music, acting, reading, crossword puzzles, bus trips, and walking on Rails to Trails.
At Sue’s request, there will be no utilities. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Martinsburg. Arrangements by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.
