Speed up land acquisition for Pune airport, says Girish Bapat
Bapat reviewed the various infrastructure development projects and works underway in and around Pune Airport
MP for Pune (MP) Girish Bapat on Sunday urged the officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) to expedite the land acquisition process for the airport expansion of Pune. Bapat is also Chairman of Pune Airport Advisory Board
During the review meeting held at Lohegaon International Airport in Pune, Bapat said, “The PMC and IAF should complete the necessary process of land acquisition at the western end of the runway so that the existing runway could be extended to facilitate the landing of larger aircraft, thereby improving international connectivity.
The total length of the airport runway is 2,530 meters.
Bapat reviewed the various infrastructure development projects and works underway in and around Pune Airport.
“Bapat also visited the new terminal which is 60% complete as well as the multi-level car park which is expected to open to the public in September 2022,” said Santosh Dhoke, director of Pune airport.
Concluding his review, Bapat pointed out that with air passenger traffic reaching pre-Covid levels and steadily growing, all ongoing infrastructure and development works in and around the airport should be completed at time so that passengers using Pune Airport can enjoy these enhanced and improved facilities.
Bapat also advised PMC officials to undertake beautification works around the airport and ensure that necessary repairs to roads and sidewalks are carried out at the earliest.
