Southern California airports to get millions from Biden administration’s infrastructure law – CBS Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Airports across the state will receive millions from the Biden administration’s Infrastructure Act to make long-awaited safety improvements and technology upgrades.
LAX, one of the largest and busiest airports in the country, will receive $79 million, and Burbank Airport will receive nearly $8 million. Van Nuys Airport gets a relatively smaller boost at $763,000.

“This airport not only supports 10,000 related jobs, but also brings $2 billion with a B into the local economy,” said Michael Christensen, deputy general manager of Los Angeles World Airports.

Van Nuys Airport is the busiest general aviation airport in the country, according to Representative Tony Cárdenas. Although the airport is not served by any commercial airline, it has over 220,000 take-offs and landings per year.
The infrastructure funds will be used to improve airport facilities, update its technology and make flights safer and more efficient.
