New Trax Station opens at Salt Lake City International Airport

SALT LAKE CITY – Travelers now have another way to come and go from the new Salt Lake City International Airport.
The Utah Transit Authority officially opened a new Trax station at the airport on Monday.
The station will serve as the arrival point for the Green Line and connect the airport to downtown Salt Lake City and West Valley City, while providing several transfer points along the way.
“Who doesn’t think here that it’s not now the largest airport in all of the United States,” said Erin Mendenhall, mayor of Salt Lake City. “The way we move people matters. “
The new station represents the completion of a 20-month project that cost approximately $ 22 million.
The airport previously housed a Trax station which closed when the new SLC airport facility opened in September 2020.
Since then, the teams have worked on the extension of the track and the construction of the station platform of the new SLC.
Airport officials hope that a direct mode of public transport will ease pressure on airport parking lots.
They also believe that a direct and convenient route to downtown Salt Lake will make it more attractive for conventions and tourists to organize events and visit Salt Lake City.
“It’s a big city, 21st century, ”said Bill Wyatt, airport manager. “Big city, 21st the airports of the century need a real connection to the city center.
For convenience for travelers, UTA has announced that it will extend the hours of operation of the Green Line on Sunday evenings.
