New hotel at Rogue Valley-Medford International Airport

MEDFORD, Ore – A new hotel will soon be available at Rogue Valley-Medford International Airport (MFR). At around 4:40 p.m. Monday, MFR announced that Jackson County and Kauri, LLC had finalized negotiations for the project.
According to Jerry Brienza, MFR Airport Manager, the hotel will have at least 118 rooms and will be located on 2.76 acres of land on the airport, within walking distance of the main terminal.
Brienza also said that Kauri and MFR had been working on securing a lease and development agreement for over a year while dealing with several issues, including: land releases by the FAA, studies on floodplains and the pandemic.
âBoth sides were very committed to this project and we worked together to remove obstacles,â he said.
The lease and development agreement will give Kauri three years to complete construction work on the project. Officials say it’s estimated that at a minimum, building the hotel will cost $ 15 million, but it’s expected to cost even more.
Brienza also says the new hotel will create more than 200 jobs, of which 80% of the employees will be local.
