Help Wanted, Lansing Area Police Department Sending Candidates To Police Academy
There are so many great career opportunities these days that give back to people and our communities. Nurses, paramedics, firefighter teachers, and of course police officers.
It was my second career choice growing up and I even took tests for some Chicago area police departments. My brother was a cop at the time and he told me to follow my heart and try the radio first. He laughed and said you wouldn’t like all the paperwork you have to fill out as a police officer.
If you or you know someone who wants to get into law enforcement, check this out. Eaton Rapids Police Department is looking for candidates and they will pay future qualified officers to go to the police academy according to fox47news.com.
Now new to law enforcement
Police Chief Larry Weeks said the program was not new to law enforcement, but to the city of Eaton Rapids.
This is something that we started because we, like other agencies, have the challenge of trying to find qualified candidates to hire, âWeeks said. “We hope this presents a new pool of candidates for us to review and bring in good quality candidates to be in the police force here at Eaton Rapids.”
They will have 3 openings and will have a current payroll for 10 agents. Both men and women who are hired must pass the tests required by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. Then would go to the police academy.
There is paid training
They pay $ 18.33 an hour during training, and once you graduate, the salary will go up to $ 20.48 an hour to start as a police officer.
Eaton Rapids plans to start receiving applications perhaps as early as the end of the week.
