Construction begins on $ 899 million station at Los Angeles Airport
Construction has begun on an $ 898.6 million station that will connect Los Angeles International Airport directly to the region’s light rail and bus systems, solving a decades-old problem.
The airport metro connector will be connected to an automated passenger train under construction to transport people to and from the airport terminals. A ceremony took place on Monday to mark the start of the work.
“This innovation is a critical step in our efforts to provide residents and visitors with real alternatives to traffic,” said Los Angeles City Councilor Mike Bonin, who also sits on the Los Angeles County Board of Directors. Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The station will have platforms to access Metro light rail trains, a bus area, a passenger disembarkation area, a bicycle hub and a commercial space.
The airport is in the midst of a massive multibillion dollar metamorphosis.
