FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – The City of Fargo and the Hector International Airport (MAA) Municipal Airport Authority will sign a new Memorandum of Understanding tomorrow. The agreement reached by the MAA and the City to approve the new memorandum of understanding puts an end to the official negotiations which began more than two years ago.
The latest memorandum of understanding, which was signed in 2020, established an initial term of agreement of one year, followed by three years, and then successive terms of five years. For the initial period of one year, the agreement may be terminated by either party by giving notice no later than July 1, 2020. Regarding the terms of three and five years, the memorandum of understanding can be terminated effective January 1 of any year. with one year’s written notice to the other party. Last year’s memo changed the 50-year-old deal between the two, which fixed some issues. But others, including employee compensation, have not been resolved.
Here’s a link to our previous story with a list of all the issues the last MOU addressed.
The two government entities have been working together since 1969, when the Airport Authority was created. The new MOU will help address some of the unresolved issues the City of Fargo and the MAA have had over the years since the airport was administered. Some have been of concern for many years. The signing will be available to stream on Fargo City channels, TVFargo.com, and its channels.
