Center extends Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana until June 30, 2022 | Check eligibility criteria, how to apply and benefits
The central government extended Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY) under the Employee Insurance Company (ESIC) until June 30, 2022. ABVKY was launched in 2018 to provide employment opportunities for people who lost their jobs during the novel coronavirus pandemic, including industrial workers.
ABVKY was piloted for two years with the aim of helping those who found themselves unemployed during the Covid-19 pandemic and now the scheme has been extended until June 2022. As part of this scheme, insured persons receive unemployment benefit. at 50 percent of salary for three months who lost their jobs for various reasons. Persons whose interests are protected by an insurance policy come under the category of insured persons.
Benefits offered to employees covered by the ESI plan:
Employees covered by the ESI scheme can benefit from the advantages of ABVKY. Each month, the ESI contribution is deducted from the employee’s salary. An insured can directly submit his request to the ESIC branch without involving his last employer in the process. Since the pandemic, at least 50,000 people have benefited from the program, according to reports.
The decision to announce the extension of the program was taken at the 185th ESIC meeting held in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand and the announcement was made by the Union Minister of Labor and Employment , Bhupendar Yadav.
Here is how you can apply for Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana:
Step 1: If you want to apply for ABVKY, you need to download the ABVKY form from the official website. You can access the site by clicking on this link: https://www.esic.nic.in/
2nd step: Fill in all the required details in the form and submit it to the nearest ESIC agency.
Step 3: You must also attach a sworn statement from a notary on a non-judicial stamp. You must submit forms AB-1 to AB-4 to apply for this program.
Documents required for Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana:
Applicants must submit physical application with affidavit, photocopy of Aadhaar card, bank account details at any branch of ESIC. The payment will be credited directly to the insured’s bank account.
Eligibility criteria for Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana:
-Employees working with private companies, factories and industries can enjoy the benefits of ABVKY. Either an ESI card must be issued or benefits can be claimed using documents provided by the company.
-Only people can benefit from the advantages of ABVKY whose monthly salary is less than Rs 21,000 and in the case of specially disabled people, the limit is Rs 25,000.
-The insured must have insurable employment for a minimum period of two years before his employment.
-The insured must also have contributed to the ESI for at least 78 days during the contribution period immediately preceding unemployment in order to benefit from the benefits of the scheme. According to the government notification, the contribution should have been paid or payable by the employer.
-If the person has lost his job due to a sanction, fault, retirement pension or voluntary retirement, the advantages of ABVKY cannot be used.
-Aadhaar and insured’s bank account should be linked to the database, and claims can only be filed by workers.
-The claim will be due 30 days after the date of unemployment. Previously, the limit was 90 days.
