Breeze Airways will make Provo airport the airline’s home base, announcing five daily flights from Provo.
If residents felt a slight change in the air on Friday, it could have been the Breeze Airways announcement.
Breeze, the self-proclaimed “seriously nice” airline, announced not only that it will begin flying from Provo, but that the airport will be the airline’s base in Utah. There will be four aircraft tied up at the Provo airport.
The first roads out of Provo will be:
- San Francisco, CA (daily nonstop, starting August 4 from $39 one way).
- San Bernardino, CA (daily stop/no plane changes, starting August 4 from $49 one way).
- Las Vegas, Nevada (daily nonstop, starting October 5, from $29 one way).
- New York/Westchester (one stop daily/no plane changes, starting October 5, from $99 one way).
- Los Angeles, CA (daily nonstop, starting November 2, from $39 one way).
“I pay tribute to Mayor (Michelle) Kaufusi and his leadership,” said David Neeleman, Founder and CEO of Breeze. “She said if you build it, they’ll come.”
Neeleman noted that Provo is convenient due to its proximity to Silicon Slopes, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, businesses and the general public.

Breeze Airway Founder and CEO David Neeleman shows what he really thinks of his airline, which now flies from Provo.
He added that someone leaving Silicon Slopes and going to Provo airport, parking, going through TSA checkpoints, to the gates and onto the plane is faster than going from Lehi to Salt Lake airport and do the same thing.
“My flight might be halfway to San Francisco before the Salt Lake flight leaves the runway,” Neeleman said.
“Through collaborative government funding, we have invested in vital infrastructure to create economic momentum, instead of waiting for it,” Kaufusi said. “This forward-looking vision will soon translate into local job growth and a strong regional economic return with Breeze Airlines and Allegiant establishing bases of operation in Provo.”
Breeze opened its headquarters in Cottonwood Heights in February 2020 and employs approximately 70 people at the facility, many of whom live in the Utah Valley.
“That’s been the question on everyone’s lips since we opened our office in Cottonwood Heights – when are you leaving Utah?” said Neeleman. “In addition to the new routes announced today, we are also making Provo a base, so we will be hiring hundreds more people locally.”

In March, the airline launched the Breeze Training Academy and Flight Simulator in Salt Lake City for initial and recurrent training of its pilots, flight attendants and guest empowerment teams.
With the new Provo base, the airline plans to hire 200 additional crew members, while continuing to add jobs in a range of positions, including finance, operations, marketing and human resources.
Breeze is already connected to UVU by training flight attendants and helping with their schooling. Neeleman also plans to work with the university on an aircraft mechanics program.
Breeze will operate the new routes with its fleet of Airbus A220s and Embarer 190s. The airline will more than double its fleet this year, from 13 Embraer 190s and 195s to 30 aircraft including 13 Airbus A220s and four Embraer E-jets. additional.
Breeze has ordered 80 brand new Airbus A220-300s, with options for 40 more, to be delivered monthly for six years. When traveling on the E-190 aircraft, passengers can choose between two fare packages: “Nice” and “Plus Nice”.
On the A220s, a third package, “Nicest”, is also offered and includes a first class seat. Customers can also choose a Nice or Nicer package and purchase an upgrade to first class.
