Bengaluru Airport Becomes First Facility in South Asia to Operate Rosenbauer Fire-Fighting Equipment | Bangalore
Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore has commissioned an advanced Rosenbauer Tactical Simulator firefighting system, making it the first facility in South Asia to have this high-tech equipment, BIAL said. Monday in a statement.
The Rosenbauer Tactical Simulator, which offers numerous scenarios to prepare for real emergencies to firefighters at Bengaluru Airport as well as those at other airports, state fire departments and defense forces, will help to further strengthen its capacity, Bangalore International Airport. Ltd (BIAL) said.
The simulator features a cockpit that matches every detail of the Rosenbauer fire truck, providing a realistic experience in operating the emergency fire tenders, including all operating controls, from steering wheel to turret control, screened across several 55-inch HD screens he mentioned.
With this simulator, firefighters can train in a realistic environment, master the tactical use of Rosenbauer Panther trucks, and use High Range Extendable Turrets (HRET) for extreme emergencies in aircraft fire, a- he declared.
To ensure the safety and security of all stakeholders, including passengers and airlines, BIAL has added four Rosenbauer Crash Fire Tenders (CFTs) to its fleet.
Two Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 trucks and two Rosenbauer Panther 8×8 trucks, two of which with HRET, were recently put into service, bringing the total number of CFTs in its fleet to eight, the airport operator said.
Jayaraj Shanmugam, COO of BIAL, said: “With the Rosenbauer Crash Fire Tenders, we are well equipped to effectively handle difficult fire emergencies. We believe in training our teams, equipping them with advanced tools and modern technologies, providing them with experience and keeping them ready to contain any possible emergency. “
Shanmugam added that the tactical simulator will help further enhance the firefighting capabilities of the airport.
The simulator provides incident commanders, crew commanders and chief firefighters the opportunity to gain experience in the tactical operation of CFTs through turret control and agent application firefighting, command and control, vehicle operation and basic driving and positioning skills, BIAL said.
Firefighters can be prepared for all kinds of aircraft-related emergencies as several scenarios can be customized, the operator of the private airport said.
He added that the simulator training increases the professional skills of firefighters as the scenarios are realistic and the sessions can be replayed for effective assessment.
