Arajet agrees with Aerodom to establish a permanent base in Santo Domingo

During DATE 2022, Arajet and Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM), a subsidiary of VINCI Airports, signed an agreement to make José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of the Americas (AILA-JFPG), located in Santo Domingo, an operational base.
Thanks to the signed agreement, AILA-JFPG will serve as the home base for ARAJET. In practice, this means that it will base planes and crews, and serve as a departure point for all its planes and return there for overnight stays if flight duration permits.
ARAJET will be the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean, offering nonstop service to more than forty destinations in the United States, Mexico, South America, Central America and the Caribbean, as authorized by the Council of Civil Aviation of the Dominican Republic (JAC).
It is backed by investors such as Griffin and Bain Capital. It will initially operate from July with five Boeing 737 MAX 8s to Costa Rica, Colombia, Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.
