More than 1,200 jobs at Gatwick Airport will be offered at a two-day job fair this week. Companies seeking staff include BA EuroFlyer, Pret a Manger, JD Sports, NCP and WHSmith – with interviews for some positions available the same day.

Employers offer jobs in Gatwick’s shops, restaurants and bars, as ground or cargo handlers on the airfield, or as engineers or cabin crew, with BA EuroFlyer even looking for pilots.

The Gatwick Jobs Fair, organized by the Department for Work and Pensions and the airport, will take place on Tuesday 15 March and Wednesday 16 March, between 10am and 3.30pm at the Spectrum House Jobcentre, Beehive Ring Road, Crawley. The DWP and the airport encourage those in attendance to “bring a friend”.

It follows a previous two-day event held at the Jobcentre in February, which attracted over 900 people. More than 730 people have taken the next stage interviews, with more than 100 jobs offered to date and many applications still in process.

Father and son James and Jimmy Reilly both secured interviews at the February job fair and have now both been recruited by Gatwick Ground Services. While James is currently learning to drive, he has joined the aircraft appearance team and dad Jimmy will join the GGS baggage handling team.

James said: “My dad and I attended the Gatwick job fair as I wanted to work with GGS at Gatwick Airport. My dad worked for BA for almost 30 years and he always told me that working at the airport is a job for life.”

Jimmy said he was ‘really delighted’ his son went to the fair, adding: ‘I have also decided to return to work at Gatwick as I miss working at the airport since I was made redundant, c It’s great to be back.”

Nick Williams, from the Gatwick Airport Retail team, said: “This free two-day event is a great opportunity to find an exciting new job. If you know someone else who is also looking for a job feel free to invite her as well.. There are so many great opportunities available with job vacancies all over the airport.”

Kevin O’Reilly, Managing Director of One Resourcing, who represented BA EuroFlyer and GGS at the latest event, said: “We have been recruiting cabin crew for BA’s exciting new short-haul operation which will begin flying from London Gatwick to the end of March and the attraction of candidates was fantastic.
